| In 2018, China again ranked first globally in terms of nonwovens product capacity, contributing a total output of 5.93 million tons, a year-on-year growth of 5.1%, and occupying over 40% of global production. China’s huge production capacity has exceeded that of Europe and North America since 2009, with hygiene, waterproof and filtration nonwovens expected to maintain their outstanding growth of over 10% per year. |

| In 2019, China’s annual consumption of nonwoven products is estimated to reach 5.7 million tons, which occupies half of Asian consumption and over 20% of global consumption. |

| To support the development of nonwoven production, China has invested actively and heavily on spunbond, spunlace, needle-punch and air-through production lines; new established lines in 2018 were 65, 52, 193 and 15 respectively. According to the China Textile Machinery Association, nonwoven equipment imports accounted for USD 98.92 million, with the top five countries / regions being Germany, France, Taiwan, Japan and Italy. Germany alone occupies more than 50% of Chinese nonwoven equipment imports. |
