Call for revamp: equipment makers assemble to breathe new life into the textile production industry in China
As the world's largest producer, consumer and exporter of textiles and garments, China has built the world's most complete modern textile manufacturing industry system, commanding a leading position in the global market in terms of its production capacity of each segment in the supply chain.
However, the Chinese market is still largely dependent on the imports of foreign high-end textile machinery and accessories for the production of high-performance technical textile products. The estimated annual import value of advanced equipment, such as high-performance metallic raw materials, high-precision sensors, high-speed bearings and chips, is more than USD 500 million, accounting for about 1/7 of textile equipment and parts imports.
With vaccination drives well under way around the world the global trade volumes have rebounded after lockdowns at a number of ports. As one of the earliest physical trade shows being held in China after the pandemic outbreak, Cinte Techtextil China 2022 offers the ideal business platform for a strategic reset.
Focusing on cost reduction, efficiency enhancement and quality improvement, the textile industry in China calls for a smarter manufacturing model with great demand for intelligent technologies in data analysis, automation, testing and certification, and more.
As AI technology matures and 5G network technology rolls out, the application of such technology fully empowers different links in the textile and apparel industry chain by accelerating the development of the intelligent manufacturing process, counting on the digitalisation of the textile equipment cluster.
Call for high technicality and standardisation in production
Textile equipment is not only at the upstream but also runs through the entire textile industry chain. Therefore the standardisation in textile equipment and accessories plays a pivotal role in realising the goal of improved production efficiency and product quality.
One of the major trends will be high-performance fibre products such as carbon fibre, aramid, UHMWPE, UHMW, PPE for medical and industrial use, and more. Such production requires high technicality and precision. With professional data management systems, reliable monitoring and inspections, standardised specifications and consistent classification implemented throughout the production chain, enhanced manufacturing of quality and innovative textile products are much anticipated.
China’s textile industry is accelerating towards an innovation-driven technology industry as well as a responsibility-oriented green industry. Therefore another major product trend will be bio-based fibre, degradable fibre, regenerated fibre, and more. The industry also requires a green production process of these products with the lowest possible consumption of energy, water and chemicals, and the highest possible efficiency and sustainability.
